In India, a CRPF jawan committed suicide while returning from leave and joining duty
Raipur (Daily Pakistan Online) A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service weapon in the Dantewada district of the Indian state of Chhattisgarh.
The incident took place on Saturday night at the CRPF’s 195th battalion headquarters in the Barsur police station area, about 400 km from the state capital Raipur, an official said. He said that the youth succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Raipur at 1.40 am on Sunday.
They said Constable Ganin Das, who belonged to the 195th battalion of the CRPF, shot himself with an Ansaas rifle in his barracks in the unit. Hearing gunshots, his colleagues reached there and found him critically injured. He was immediately rushed to the unit hospital, from where he was shifted to Dantewada District Hospital. Later, he was airlifted to Raipur. and was admitted to a private hospital where he died during treatment.
According to Indian media, Das, a native of Assam, joined duty on Saturday after returning from leave. No suicide note was found at the spot and an investigation is on to find out the motive behind the suicide.
