Karachi Kings Third Defeat In A Row, Quetta Won The Match By 6 Runs

Quetta Gladiators beat Karachi Kings by 6 runs in the 6th match of the 8th edition of HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Chasing the target of 169 runs by Quetta Gladiators, the Karachi Kings team managed to score 162 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs and were defeated by 6 runs.

This is the third consecutive failure of Karachi Kings in the event.

Quetta’s innings

In the match played in Karachi, Karachi Kings won the toss and decided to field against Quetta Gladiators.

Quetta scored 168 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted overs. Martin Guptill of Quetta Gladiators scored the first century of PSL 8, he was dismissed for 117 runs off the last ball.

In the 19th over of the match, Martin Guptill scored 30 runs against Karachi Kings fast bowler Andrew Tye and completed his century at the same time. Fast bowler Andrew Tye hit three sixes and three fours by Guptill.

The Kiwi batsman completed his century off 62 balls which included 11 fours and 4 sixes.

Apart from Guptill, Iftikhar Ahmed was the other prominent batsman scoring 32 runs. On behalf of Karachi, Imad Wasim, and Aamir Yameen dismissed three players each.

Chasing the target of 169 runs by Quetta Gladiators, Karachi’s innings got off to a disappointing start and Sharjeel Khan got out without opening his account, after which Hyder Ali also returned to the pavilion without scoring any runs.

James Vince was the victim of Naseem Shah by scoring 22 runs, Muhammad Hasnain guided Matthew Wade and Imad Wasim to the pavilion and both scored 15 and 5 runs respectively.

Shoaib Malik and Irfan Khan resisted the Quetta bowlers and put on a partnership of 86 runs, but the duo could not give the team their first victory of the event.

Malik’s innings of 71 runs and Irfan’s 37 runs went in vain and the Karachi Kings team managed to score 162 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, thus losing by 6 runs.

This is the third consecutive defeat of Karachi Kings in the current edition of PSL.

Mohammad Hasnain dismissed 2 players from Quetta. Martin Guptill was adjudged player of the match for his brilliant batting.
